Tiling Cost in Singapore (2026 Guide)

Floor tiling in a Singapore HDB flat

Tiling is one of the first prices homeowners ask about — it covers a lot of surface area, and the rate swings widely with the tile you pick and how much old tiling has to come off first. This guide sets out the tiling prices we publish for Singapore in 2026, what moves them, and a worked example.

How much does tiling cost in Singapore in 2026?

Tiling is quoted per square foot for most work, and per job for small areas like a kitchen backsplash. As typical Singapore ranges:

Tiling workTypical rate (2026)Notes
Floor tiling (HDB)$10 – $18 psfLay over a sound screed; tile size affects labour
Wall tiling$8 – $15 psfBathrooms, kitchens, feature walls
General tiling (overall)$8 – $20 psfVaries with tile type & layout
Tiling with hacking & prep (resale)$12 – $25 psfOld tiles removed, surface re-levelled
Kitchen backsplash$300 – $800 / jobPriced per job, not per foot

Indicative 2026 Singapore ranges — your exact price depends on the factors below, which is why we quote per project after a site visit.

Floor tiling is priced per square foot; hacking out old tiles is the biggest add-on.

What drives the tiling price

What pushes tiling cost up
Hacking & prep of old tileslargest factor
Tile material & sizehigh

Wastage on large-format / feature tileslower
Resale flats cost more per square foot because old tiles usually have to be hacked off and the surface re-levelled before new tiles go down.

A worked example

Take a 4-room resale HDB with about 500 sq ft of floor tiling to relay. At the resale rate of $12–$25 psf (old tiles hacked and prepped), that is roughly $6,000 – $12,500 for the floors. Overlaying instead — new tiles straight over sound existing ones at the HDB rate of $10–$18 psf — would land nearer $5,000 – $9,000, but adds height and isn't always suitable. Wall tiling for two bathrooms is quoted separately at $8–$15 psf.

Overlay saves time and cost but raises the floor level and can't always be done. A full hack lets us relevel and re-waterproof properly — we advise per flat at the site visit.
How is tiling priced in Singapore?

Most tiling is quoted per square foot of the area tiled; small jobs like a kitchen backsplash are priced per job. Removing old tiles (hacking) and re-levelling adds to the rate.

Is it cheaper to overlay or hack old tiles?

Overlaying is cheaper and faster but adds height and isn't suitable everywhere. A full hack costs more but lets us relevel and re-waterproof — better for wet areas.

Do you supply the tiles or do I?

Either. Many homeowners buy their own tiles and we lay them; we can also supply. The rates above are for laying — tile supply is separate.

The direct-contractor advantage: we're the renovation contractor, not a middleman — our own team does the work, so you're not paying a designer's markup on labour. More of your budget goes into materials and finishes.
